The residents of Tustin, California take pride in their heritage and small town status in built-up Orange County. The local Historical Society is active is collecting area history and making it available for the education of visitors and residents alike. The Tustin museum contains historical photographs and artifacts from Tustin’s history, including a fire wagon from 1906, once owned by Sam Tustin, a descendent of the town’s founder, Columbus Tustin. The museum is open to the public the first and third Saturdays of every month, and every Tuesday and Thursday.
Visitors to Tustin may be interesting in participating in the annual Old Town Promenade Home & Garden Tour, a guided survey of some of the town’s most notable historic homes and other buildings. Following the architectural portion of the tour, participants will visit the some of the oldest surviving trees in the area, some of which have been standing since the town’s establishment in 1868.
